Bean's Life - Children's Literature
Part of the “Crabtree Connections” series, this title is categorized as a recount book and it introduces the life cycle of a bean, specifically the fava bean. A bean is a seed and the story starts with the planting of a bean and then describes and depicts how it grows roots into the soil and a shoot that reaches up out of the soil. Eventually leaves grow and through a process that is never named but is explained, the leaves make the food that the plant needs and the roots seek out the water that is also necessary to keep the plant alive. As it matures, the plant grows flowers that are pollinated by bees.
