Tadpole Story - Children's Literature
Part of the “Crabtree Connections” series, this title is categorized as an explanation book and it introduces readers to the fascinating life cycle of a frog. Told in the first person, the tadpole tells how it will change from the creature it is into a fully grown frog. We go back to the beginning when the mother frog laid a bunch of eggs in a jelly like substance that clings together. It is called frogspawn. This spawn is also a source of food for fish, so it is also a dangerous time for the little tadpole growing inside the egg. After two weeks the tadpole hatches and eats the jelly, grows strong and grows gills.
