Family Matters: Plays About Family Changes
From the Series Get into Character
Resentment and compassion link these two reader's theater-style plays that help teach young people how to deal with real situations. Both deal with traumatic changes within a family - a separation between the two most important people in a child's life and the loss of a home and a beloved furry family member.

Family Matters: Plays About Family Changes - Children's Literature
Family Matters: Plays about Family Changes is part of the “Get into Character” series. The book contains two illustrated plays. The first is about what happened when Brandon’s dad moved out. The second play is about when Tanya’s family has to downsize and move into a small apartment that prohibits pets and what happens to the family dog. The plays are just a small glimpse at what a couple of “family changes” could be—but they are not a complete representation of what kids who are dealing with these situations are going through. For example, Brandon never tells anyone what happened.
