In 2018, the entire town of Paradise, California was devastated by a wildfire, which came to be called the Camp Fire. Based on the experiences of many wildfire victims, this fictional story follows Toni and her family who flee their home in Paradise and must move to Sacramento afterward, where they attempt to rebuild their lives. Interspersed with facts and case studies about the different ways wildfires start and spread, this narrative tells a story common to many people who have had to flee and rebuild their lives after losing their homes, possessions, and sometimes, loved ones.
