In addition to photographs of vehicles on water, the author embeds into each page the explanations, examples and definitions that develop both reasoning skills and expanding vocabulary. The photos provide a context in which a student within a broad age-range can infer the meaning of undefined or unfamiliar words, such as that of a sailor using a winch (page 27).
