Lady Gaga - Children's Literature

Cover: Lady Gaga

Performance artist, social activist and fashion icon Lady Gaga has pushed her creativity since she was a student at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Her life story from a childhood where she was known as Stefani Germanotta to her makeover into the performer Lady Gaga with a worldwide audience is covered in this offering in the “Superstars!” series. Her performances, always theatrical, are inspired by the likes of David Bowie, Elton John, Queen, and Madonna. Because of her many outrageous acts, her critics say that she is merely an attention seeker rather than an artist. Her fans, however, are numerous, and the most devoted she lovingly refers to as Little Monsters. Lots of pull-outs, sidebars, framed photos and captions capture Gaga’s story in a colorful, magazine-style layout. “She said it” quotes and catchy chapter headings and sub-headings entice the reader as well. As with the other books in the series, shelf-life is limited since it takes readers through early 2012 with a hint at what’s to come. Included at the back of the book is a timeline, glossary, a find out more section, and index. Reviewer: Margaret Orto
