Reptile rap - Children's Literature

Cover: Reptile rap

Reptiles are introduced through rap verses and humorous photographs. Generalized information about alligators, crocodiles, lizards, snakes, and turtles is followed with specific facts about each species. Scaly skins and the exchange of old skin for new is described and illustrated. Crocodiles are shown hatching from eggs. The pads on geckos’ feet and the colors of the chameleon are vivid and clear. Most reptiles eat insects, but the iguana is an exception, eating only plants. Snakes slither and slide and have fangs and rattles. Tortoises prefer living on land, while turtles like water best.
